On Friday WRS Tech’s team were whisked away by their company directors, organized by Stuart Cox, and led to an opulent private dining room tucked discreetly within the main room at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel in Knightsbridge. The evening’s entertainment had been a much guessed at enigma at Rudley Place in the lead up to December the 1st and the whole team was delighted at the fantastic venue and food that lay ahead of them.
WRS Tech’s consultants were offered the option of maintaining the utmost privacy for their Christmas party or taking in the theatre of the main restaurant with views onto Hyde Park through its single windowed wall, all from the comfort of their dramatic velvet upholstered chairs. Amateur anthropologists to the man the team opted to leave the windows open to the full panoply of London’s finest at play.
The private dining room itself was itself was of note with the prominent handcrafted rosewood and sapele table; a depiction of the table frequented by King Arthur’s Knights of the Round Table and excavated from Westminster Palace, taking pride of the place amidst the red leather-paneled walls and sat beneath a bespoke chandelier, fashioned from the largest pieces of hand-blown glass in Britain.
Each chair was individually engraved with the name of some of the historical cookbooks that inspired the recipes of the dishes at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal.
The menu for the evening was inspired by historical influences that originate from old British cookery books that Heston and his executive chef Ashley Palmer-Watts found whilst researching within the shelves of The British Library. The printed menus waiting on the table for WRS Tech team all had elements of the traditional tastes, sights and smells of Olde England but were developed with the necessary Heston experimentation.
The food for the evening was delicious with notable dishes such as the “Meat Fruit” and “tipsy Cake” tantalizing the taste buds of the Senior team and expanding the palate of the eager junior consultants. The superb wine list and cocktail menu was also gleefully assaulted by WRS Tech team.
The evening ended with cigars and a rickshaw vs taxi race to Waterloo (with a hotly contested victory).
