Recruitment can be rewarding
Recruiters can/do have a bad reputation, we have heard it all and everyone is entitled to their own opinions BUT we are only doing our jobs! Being in this type of job it is demanding and extremely competitive and things may not always go your way, but that’s just part of the fun.
1. Recruitment is all about filling jobs and for me it is a great feeling when you call your candidate and offer them their dream job. YOU have changed their life. They may be able to now afford to treat their partners or buy a car they have wanted or even retire earlier than expected, whatever it may be you have helped them achieve this and that is a good feeling!
2. No day is the same in recruitment, every day you’re speaking to new candidates and clients, filling new jobs, visiting people in the industry and so much more. It is not a boring office job, although you do sit behind a computer with the phone glued to your ear most of your day you are engaging with new people you haven’t spoken to before – building relationships with them, assisting to fill positions and help people make that next step on the career ladder.
3. You can be very successful in this kind of position but only if you want to be. Recruitment isn’t just a walk in the park and we don’t sit around calling people at random all day long, we work long hours to get the results we want. In recruitment you can determine your success, and the only way to do this is by working hard and staying motivated.
Recruitment has its highs and lows but that’s what makes it so interesting. There are many things you learn from being in this type of job which make you a better recruiter and allows you to gain and develop many skills.
