Not only is Portsmouth an iconic island, it’s also the home of Charles Dickens, Portsmouth Football Club, The Spinnaker Tower and as of 2017, the UK’s largest / most technologically advanced naval vessel, HMS Queen Elizabeth.
On the 16th August 2017, HMS Queen Elizabeth sailed into her home port of Portsmouth for the first time – On the 29th September 2018, HMS Queen Elizabeth took receipt her new aircraft as fighter jets successfully land and take off for first time.
The £3.1bn aircraft carrier felt the rubber from the tyres of the £100 million F35 fighter jets as they practiced a number of landings and take offs.
The crews of the vessel and fighter jets are currently undergoing sea trials off the coast of the US, and are expected to carry out 500 landings and take-offs during the carrier's 11 weeks at sea.
WRS UK Ltd would like to wish the crews involved a smooth sailing and a safe landing.
