The UK government has stepped up their intention to make the shipping industry a continued priority for the future of Great Britain. A wide range of objectives have been outlined including (but not limited to) a maritime skills commission, reviews of the UK tonnage tax scheme and a proposed ‘innovation hub’ by 2030 in one of the UK's ports.
With luck, this will be a positive step forward for an industry that contributed billions of pounds to the economy and contributes to strong global relations (regardless of the direction Brexit takes).
Given the huge drop in skilled seafarers in the UK is this enough to kick start a resurgence? How does Brexit affect our the industry?
