WRS Tech’s team have a number of vacancies for multiple maritime businesses covering the UK and overseas.

This particular client I am recruiting for are looking for a Production Manager to join the team. As the Production Manager, you will manage, oversee and ensure that the companies main deliverables are delivered on time, on budget to cover material, labour and any other overheads.

This is a heavy engineering business, focusing on engines leaning to the mechanically biased work load.

Responsibilities (Brief Outline):

• To manage the core business operations to ensure delivery of the production plan on time, in full and within budget
• Ensure support operations deliver working production plans and materials are made available to deliver the plan in a timely manner
• Be hands on when required to support production output
• Be able to find and/or offer solutions to problems when they occur
• Update and maintain local Visual Management status on all project / programmes in production and update the business work boards and online system boards each day
• Understand requirements and prioritise according to production demands from the planning engineer, general manager etc
• Communicate status of jobs and advise requirements or preferably solutions
• Define and communicate plan with actuals and targets – this must ensure that 100% of the team understands what to do and when to achieve it by
• Hold team meetings and Improvement meetings with teams working in relevant areas to ensure issues have been reported and are being action so the plan is achieved
• Ensure all members working within your scope of work have signed and understood the relevant EHS risk assessments
• Lead the drive for continuous improvement in Operational performance – SQCDP, Lean, 5S, Materials availability and Labour productivity, overhead reduction
• Ensure all improvement programmes are and maintained at the right required levels supported by appropriate audit schedules
• Monitor & maintain productivity levels of each area and report weekly against KPI’s
• Work with planning to maximise efficiency on equipment usage in order to prevent output slippage
• To take responsibility and accountability for the daily and weekly operations within the production area
• Bring good levels of discipline and robust working practices into the production area
• Provide information, maintain records and carry out all duties in an accurate, efficient and timely manner
• EHS Compliance: it is essential to be aware of and adhere to all Health & Safety laws & guidelines relevant to your role and to the safety of your colleagues, visitors and external partners

Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Technically strong, sound manufacturing test techniques / engineering knowledge
• Budgety management and control
• Maintain good levels of communication and liaison with all departments as required
• Analytical, problem solver
• Seasoned engineer with at least 5 years of related experience, preferably in the heavy equipment manufacturing / rotating machines
• Experienced in Team leadership/ management
• Budgetary knowledge and experience
• Customer focussed
