WRS Tech's marine team have a number of vacancies for multiple marine businesses covering the UK and overseas.

The client I am recruiting for are looking for Lead Mechanical Design Engineer. As the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leadership of the mechanical design team to create bills of materials, engineering drawings, design calculations and FMEA's around the core engine design for a specific range of engines manufactured locally.

Responsibilities (Brief Outline)
� Leadership of a design team (3yrs minimum)
� Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA).
� Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA).
� Root Cause Analysis (8D methodology)
� Computer Aided Design (Autodesk Inventor 3D or similar).
� Project Management & Resource planning. (MS Project).

Duties of the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (Detailed):
� Lead the mechanical design team covering planning resources and setting priorities in conjunction with the Engineering Manager
� Lead engineering projects to meet Cost, Quality, Standards and Timescale
� Management of multiple projects
� Project Management & Resource planning (MS Project)
� Computer Aided Design (Autodesk Inventor 3D & 2D)
� Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
� Engine risk analysis (RA)
� Design for Manufacture, Assembly and Serviceability (DFM/DFA)
� Design analysis and calculations in accordance with customer requirements and product design standards
� Root Cause analysis investigations using 8D methodology
� Ensure that there is an accurate 3D product definition for each engine application type
� Approver of engineering drawings, specifications and bills of materials to define the engine configuration/build
� Communicate design changes using Company procedures for (DA's-Design Alterations)
� Ensure that designs are in compliance with product safety legislation, regulations and directives
� Provide technical support to the Sales team with data for tenders and quotations, supply chain to both support supplier with technical queries as well as develop new suppliers & Operations in order to ensure contract engine bills of materials are accurate and comply with best practice on Design for manufacture and assembly. DFM/DFA
� Ensure both project & technical construction files are in place and maintained
� Acts as a mentor for design engineers.

Knowledge/Skills Required:
� Base engine design and analysis
� Engine performance, fuel efficiency and thermodynamic concepts
� Experience with analysis tools (Ansys, MatLab or similar)
� Atmospheres Explosives Directive for hazardous areas (ATEX), Machinery Directive, Pressure Equipment Directive (CE PED)
� AutoDesk Inventor 3D CAD.
� SAP Enterprise Software


Qualifications:
� Engineering Degree or time served
� Experience in a heavy/complex equipment industry
